Issue 001 - Origin Stories
Wow - Here it is, the first official episode! November 1 got here faster that I expected.
My Sidekicks for this episode are:
Billy Flynn from Geek Radio Daily and the former Geeklabel Radio, today known as “Innuendo Boy.” Apparently, Billy is offering his services to mimic me professionally. For $0.25, you can hear him say “ookay.” I didn’t know I had my own catch phrase, but it’s nice to be remembered.
Jordan Whiley, also know as the Code Poet of Geeklabel fame. Today, the “Thermonatrix.”
( I still say “what the…?)
In This Episode:
- Introductions
- What to expect and what not to expect from the show - We’re the Straight Men, not the comics, lower your expecations accordingly.
- The current state and future of Geeklabel Tees
- The Geeklabel Podcast Legacy - Billy Flynn is officialy appointed “Keeper of the Legacy.” His haul of swag includes:
An autographed Jenna Von Oy photo (that’s what you can’t hear over all of the drooling and catcalls)
My Little Cthulu (from Dreamland Toyworks)
A seriously cool remote control dragon from our old friend Valharic
All the leftover Geeklabel Podcast and Geeklabel Radio Tees - A Fitness Update from the sidekicks
- Jordan/Thermonatrix is starting his career as a film star (villian) in Red Cloud Production’s Max VO2 . This now decreases his Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon score to 3 (possibly 2)
- Billy apparently pays people to pee on him. That’s what I heard, anyway.
- What everyone’s been doing “geekly.” Wii Fit, Star Wars - The Force Unleashed, Lego Batman
- Movie Talk - Norbit, Dark Knight, Iron Man, and the Kingfish’s childish need for a happy ending.
- Comics - Arkham Asylum is “way in the icky,” and therefore not for the Kingfish
- Why does DC suck, at least for toys?
The Official MetaMediocrity Rating Scale is now 1-10 Capes
- TV - Battlestar Galactica, Animated Batman & Superman, CLone Wars & The Star Wars Universe, Fringe, Smallville, Heroes
- The Burger King and The Quaker Oats dude look like podophiles
- A horrible segue to talking about the MetaMediocrity Audio Comic
Props and Shoutouts:
- The Secret Lair - Overlords Miller and Johnson have a good (evil) thing going there
- Mur Lafferty - I have a signed copy of Playing for Keeps, FTW!
- Jim Butcher - The Dresden Files audio books inspire me, stylistically speaking
- I didn’t mention him in the audio, but I really like Nathan Lowell’s audio fiction and keep his style in mind when I’m writing. How that man can tell such a gripping story without any flash-bang action is beyond me. Check out his Golden Age of the Solar Clipper podiobooks.
and finally - MetaMediocrity, Issue 001 - Origin Stories
